Singapore To Host SB20 World Championship, 2021

On 28 January 2019 One15 Marina Sentosa Cove Republic declared that it has achieved the rights to host the SB20 World Championship 2021. The Sailing World Championship will now be held in Singapore.

As a part of the competition, the Marina will be hosting participants in the form of teams that might range up to 70. Singapore will be making 15 teams participate in the competition. It is believed that the top sailors of the Republic might be participating in the team. The championship that is to be held in Singapore is the first such championship to be held in Asia ever since the competition started in 2008. Other than this, Europe and Australia have been the official hosts of this championship twice till now.

The Vice-Captain of the Singapore SB20 Championship Nicholas Cocks that the past championships that were held between 2015 and 2019 contributed to being an essential factor in Singapore winning the chance to host the event in 2021.After the news came out, the association seems to be in joy for being the official hosts of the upcoming event. Teo Joo Leng, the general manager of Marna said that the opportunity would not have been possible to get a hold of had SB20 Association and Federation of Sailing in Singapore not supported them like a backbone and help in producing a quality output through consistent efforts and hard work.

He said that One 15 Marina Sentosa has always been a constant source of support to the community at the sea in order to imbibe its values in the lifestyle offered at One15. He even seemed to be happy that now Singapore’s homegrown sailors will now be able to compete with sailors from other parts of the world on internationally set standards. He said that if the event goes smoothly and the event goes as expected it will help in inspiring the community of sailing and making the management and federation have an increased interest in the field.
