XHAKA SAYS NO TO ITALIAN FOOTBALL

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is not ready to swap Premier League football for Italian football according to the latest transfer news coming out of the Italian media. The former Gunners skipper is said to be attracting the interest of Inter Milan. The Swiss international skipper wasinitially linked with the Nerazzuri in the summer and those transfer links have continued intorecent weeks.

According to Italian news portal Calciomercato, Granit Xhaka doesn’t want to move to Italian football despite the fact that Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte wants to sign him to boost his midfield. It was revealed that the Nerazzuri are even willing to offer Christian Eriksen in exchange for Xhaka. Inter Milan are ready to offer Christian Eriksen plus cash for Granit Xhaka but the Swiss internationalis not interested in a move to the San Siro.

Granit Xhaka has come a long way at Arsenal since he signed for the club from German Bundesliga side Borussia Moenchengladbach in a £35m deal in 2016. He was the Gunners skipper until last season when former boss Unai Emery stripped him of the armband after his moment of madness during the Premier League meeting with Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium. He gestured rudely towards the fans and also threw the armband to the ground in that London Derby.

He was briefly taken out of the Arsenal team and only the appointment of Mikel Arteta as the Gunners boss prevented him from leaving the club during the 2020 January transfer window. For now, his commitment lies with Mikel Arteta and Arsenal.

In recent games in the league, Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has not made the starting XI due to the form of new signing Thomas Partey and Mohamed ElNeny. Xhaka is expected to return to the XI for the Leeds United game away from home on Sunday evening since Partey and ElNeny are not available due to thigh injury and Covid-19 respectively.
